Diwali / Deepavali:

For the Jains, Mahavira the last of the Tirthankar attained Nirvana on this day at Pavapuri on 15 October 527 BCE, on Chaturdashi of Kartika. For the Sikhs, Diwali marks the Bandi Chhor Divas, when Guru Har Gobind freed himself and arrived at the Golden Temple. Deepavali is the festival of lights, kindness, purity, charitable causes and peace. The five day festivals begins with Dhanteras , Naraka Chaturdasi or Choti Diwali, Lakshmi Puja, Padwa or Balipratipada and Bhai Duj. Navratri /Dussehra:
The significance of Dussehra festival one that it is related with Lord Ram and another is associated with Goddess Durga. In the Ramayana, the war between Ram and Ravana went on during these 10 days and Ravana was killed by the hands of Ram on the tenth day. Dussehra is also called Vijayadashami / Durga Pooja and is celebrated as victory of Goddess Durga over the demon Mahisasura. Vijayadashami is so called as triumph of virtue over sin or immorality. Makar Sankranti / Kite Festival:
The kite catchers and kite flyers are most enthusiastic and eager of Mark Sankranti. The festival has three set of people, one who are expert at flying kites and can be seen shouting woh kaata (kite competitions) and the other set of folks who loves to hold the charkha (Catherine wheel) and the another set of mom / sisters / wives who cooks delicious food for the family and friends. Makar Sankranti celebrates the begining of spring and end of winter and is the day when everybody go to their house rooftop eating til-paati, gajak, kheer, ghevar, pakodi, and til-laddoo. Makar Sankranti always comes on 14th February each year.
Holi:
Undoubtedly the most colorful and fun festivals of India is Holi. It is the spring festival celebrated with a lot of cheerfulness, playfulness, and everybody applies color / paste / natural paint / and some drink bhang on Holi.
